Samsung has been rolling out the stable One UI 8 update for some time now. The release picked up pace in the last few days and has seen the Galaxy 22 series phones upgraded. While the update has been limited to a few countries, Samsung has stopped rolling out entirely.

The stable Android 16-based One UI 8 update has been smooth sailing. We have not heard of any issues with the build, but this has changed with the latest development. A new report suggests Samsung has pulled the stable build from the server. Unfortunately, the company has yet to confirm this or the reason for halting the rollout.
Reason why Samsung has stopped the Galaxy S22 One UI 8 release
Samsung began rolling out the stable build to multiple regions last week, and the OTA has been pulled from the server. It means the rollout has stopped, and the most recent build on the server is the One UI 7. It’s the first time the company has halted the stable One UI 8 rollout for any phone, but it’s not something we didn’t expect.
Previously, stable One UI 8 has been smooth; however, it is due to these types of issues that only a select few people were initially allowed to install the upgrade. Additionally, users are encouraged to back up important data before installing any update to avoid data loss when things do not go as planned.
Luckily, the reason Samsung had to stop the Galaxy S22 One UI 8 rollout is not a major one. We have not seen many reports from device users, but there are a few on Reddit. Rapid battery drain seems to be the most common problem reported after the upgrade. Interestingly, the issue is not consistent; perhaps there might be another reason the update was stopped.
While Samsung has yet to acknowledge stopping the rollout for the S22 or the reason why, we do not expect people to continue receiving the upgrade. We understand why many people are waiting for the upgrade, and it’s only a matter of time before every eligible device gets upgraded. You should follow our page to know when the update starts rolling out again, as it is the last guaranteed OS upgrade.
