Google has begun seeding a new Android Auto 15.5 beta update. It’s been only a few weeks since the last beta was released, and those participating in the program have another shot to preview a new build. As usual, only select users can install the update, but you can side-load the APK file.

Android Auto has seen many bugs over the last couple of months. Google decided to release a beta build before a general release to contain these problems. While that has been happening for some time now, it has not helped much, as these issues always find their way to a stable build. Nevertheless, a new update always promises new fixes, just as Android Auto 15.5 beta.
Unfortunately, Google did not release the update with a changelog. It’s hard to say what’s on the build: new features or bugs that got fixed. Nevertheless, it’s leaning more towards the latter as no new user-facing changes were spotted by those who already upgraded to the latest build. You might want to wait for feedback before installing the upgrade.
Details of the new Android Auto 15.5 beta update
Google has released Android Auto v15.5.1542 beta. It’s exclusive to beta testers, and hence, you would not be able to install it unless you are part of the program. Instead of installing the APK file, you might consider waiting for the stable rollout, as no new user-facing changes were spotted. Google seems to be focusing on underlining bugs and optimizing the app for upcoming features.
Google has plans to introduce Call Notes and Call Screen, currently available for Pixel phone users, to Android Auto. Their introduction will allow drivers to manage their phone calls more efficiently, as their device will be able to detect important calls and take notes during phone conversations.
Nevertheless, these will only happen after the introduction of Gemini. Google plans to replace the traditional assistant with a next-generation assistant. Currently available on most Android devices, it will overhaul the experience in the car. It will be easy to search for nearby places based on more complex criteria, such as items on a restaurant’s menu with Gemini.
Additionally, Gemini will search data in more places, including in Google reviews and business listings on Google Maps. This information will help users make a better decision, and they can put a call for additional information using the Assistant.
Unfortunately, we do not know when their features will start rolling out, but hopefully, soon. However, we are certain that a new Android Auto is available for download. We recommend installing the latest build to fortify your device ahead of what’s coming.
