The May 2026 Google Play system update has just been announced. As usual, the rollout has yet to start and will likely take a few weeks before it becomes available on eligible phones. With the release note, we know what will be coming with the build when it finally starts hitting eligible devices.

Google Play system update is not for phones; it is also available for Wear OS, Google/Android TV, Android Auto, and PC. However, some features are exclusive to developers while others apply to end users.
We always recommend installing the update as it comes with new features, optimization, and bug fixes. To check for the update, head to Settings>>tap on your name at the very top for “Google services>>All service tab >>Privacy & security>>System services. You are likely not to see the update as it takes weeks to arrive. Also, some of the features below take months before they become available.
