Samsung is planning to release the first One UI 9 beta update in the coming days. The next iteration of One UI is based on Android 17, expected to roll out to eligible Pixel phones in the coming weeks. It’s time for Samsung to start the preview, which they just confirmed will begin in the coming days.

    One UI 9 features

We were hoping to learn about the One UI 9 features after the first beta release, but the company has just released some of them. It’s not surprising to see some features, which are part of Android 17, especially in areas of security and privacy.

Samsung has revealed some features coming to Galaxy phones with One UI 9. It seems the company will be improving a few of the features released with One UI 8.5. The company plans to give users more control over the Quick Panel. They will be able to adjust display brightness, volume, and media player sections.

Extra features have been added to the Samsung Notes app. It now includes decorative tapes and additional pen styles, which would make users opt for it for classroom notes, creative works, or journaling.

Additionally, the Creative Studio app, which first arrived with the One UI 8.5, will be integrated into more stock apps. The Contacts app will get this customization and will allow the creation of personalized profile cards without switching between apps.

Google’s new way of handling installation of apps from unknown sources will arrive with One UI 9 for Galaxy phones. There will be stronger protection against suspicious apps and potential security threats. Users will get a warning when a high-risk app is detected.

One UI 9 will bring adjustable Mouse Key speed for smoother cursor control. Samsung has collaborated with Google to bring the TalkBack feature for a more unified accessibility experience.

The Text Spotlight feature will display selected text in a larger area or inside a floating window, making it easy for users to read content. We expect more features to surface in the course of the beta releases. Hopefully, we get to see more AI-powered features.
