Google has since introduced AirDrop support for select Android phones, while confirming plans to expand the support. The tech company announced at the I/O event that it will bring Quick Share’s AirDrop interoperability for more Android phones, like OPPO, OnePlus, and Honor.

Considering the number of Android phones on the market, it takes time for features like these to become available for eligible devices. We understand not every Android phone will receive the support, but so far, only a handful have gotten it. Initially limited to the Pixel 10 series, Google has expanded it to Galaxy phones, more Pixel models, and even some OPPO phones.

They are still expanding the list and have just announced a set of new Android phones that will soon receive AirDrop support via Quick Share. Interestingly, Pixel 8a currently supports the feature, but we could not see the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro on the list. Perhaps the duo doesn’t support the “chip-level networking tweak” required for the support. This means most mid-range devices are “unlikely” to support AirDrop sharing in Quick Share.

Alongside the Pixel 8a, OPPO Find N6 can now share files with iPhones via AirDrop. Google also confirmed that several Samsung phones will receive the feature in the coming days. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 series are listed, meaning the feature is likely coming to the Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S24 FE. Of course, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to receive the support as well.

Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z TriFold are all in line to receive AirDrop support.

Of course, other Android phones are eligible for the update, like the OPPO Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, Honor Magic V6, and Honor Magic 8 Pro. These phones will receive the function soon, hopefully, since Google did not release a timeline for its arrival.
