Samsung has started rolling out a stable One UI 8.5 update to entry-level devices, while some older flagship models are still waiting for the update. The Galaxy S22 series and mid-range Galaxy A55 have yet to receive the update, while the Galaxy A16, Galaxy A17 5G, and Galaxy A26 have all begun receiving the much-anticipated update.

Samsung is currently rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update to these devices in multiple regions. We understand that those in North America are currently receiving the upgrade, but it is not exclusive to the region, meaning other countries are also getting it. However, the rollout is staged, and hence, only select users are receiving it. The idea is to contain any bugs, but so far, the rollout has been smooth, and we expect a wider availability in the coming days.
Galaxy A16, Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy A26 starts receiving stable One UI 8.5 update
We expect Samsung to expand the rollout to more users in the coming days. If you are using the Galaxy A26, you should check for the new update, which has a firmware version A266MUBU9CZEA. The update comes with fascinating features, including some AI-powered additions. Unfortunately, AirDrop support via Quick Share is not part of the package, but Google has a new feature in the works that will allow all Android devices to share files seamlessly with iOS devices.
We recommend installing the update when prompted on your Galaxy A16, Galaxy A17 5G, and Galaxy A26. This is because, aside from all the features, the update delivered the May 2026 security patch to enhance security and resolve all security vulnerabilities. Head to Settings>System update>>Download and Install. Follow the screen prompt to complete the download, and reboot your device to complete the installation.
