Google is rolling out a new update after last week’s bug that sent some devices into a bootloop. Those who have “Enable desktop experience features” enabled before installing the last update could not boot their device. Perhaps the latest update resolves the bug.

Details of Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3.1 update
Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3.1 is rolling out with a firmware version BP41.250916.010, but for the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a. Other models are receiving a beta build with a version number BP41.250916.010.A1. While the rollout is for all eligible Pixel phones, the update size differs. Those running Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 are getting a 2.64 MB update.
Meanwhile, Google lists many options for devices that “took the Beta 3 update, had… Settings > System > Developer options > “Enable desktop experience features” turned on, and are unable to boot.”
- Ideally, let the system recover itself back to Beta 2 after the system fails to boot a few times.
- If you have (ADB) USB debugging enabled in developer options before the bootloop
- Sideload the new OTA package update. If you are on the Android Recovery page after the bootloop: Factory reset
- Factory wipe/reset from Recovery/Rescue mode
The full instructions are available here.
While the current update has resolved many issues, the bug with the loss of other lock screen clocks has yet to be fixed. Perhaps, Google plans to address the issue with future releases since we still have a few weeks before the stable release.
