Google, without support from Apple, cracked how to make the Android Quick Share feature work with Apple’s AirDrop. Since Android is an open system and runs most phones in the market, it was only a matter of time before it expanded. As expected, more Android phones now support AirDrop via Quick Share.

The first Android phone to support AirDrop via Quick Share was the Pixel 10 series. It later expanded to the Pixel 9 series before Google announced more Android phones would be getting the support. OPPO has since announced the feature for its Find X series phone before Samsung enabled it for the Galaxy S26 series phones with a new update.

According to recent developments, more Android phones are now getting AirDrop support via Quick Share. Most of these phones are Samsung devices, with 13 Galaxy phones currently able to transfer files to an iPhone via Quick Share.

Interestingly, the support works across iPhones, iPads, and MacBooks. However, to get started, Apple device owners need to switch their device to “Everyone” mode. Both phones are actually as contact sharing doesn’t work across platforms. Once that is done, the device should immediately show up to nearby Android phones that want to share files.

Google has been able to pull the AirDrop support via Quick Share perfectly. It works as intended, with the process very seamless. Meanwhile, you need to enable the function on your Samsung phone, while on Pixel phones, it is always enabled.

Google is working with Android phone manufacturers to enable AirDrop via Quick Share. So far, only Samsung has released the new feature to its devices, mostly flagship phones. OPPO already announced it’s coming to its premium lineup, but we have yet to see it roll out. Hence, we have mostly Pixel and Samsung phones on the supported phones.

For the Samsung phones aside from the Galaxy S26 series, you need to be running the latest One UI 8.5 beta build to enable it. The function is part of the new update that’s currently rolling out for the Samsung phones listed in this post.

Meanwhile, we expect more phones to support the feature in the coming weeks, but we have yet to confirm if it will be limited to flagship phones. It’s looking like that will be the case. So far, all devices currently supporting the feature are running Android 16, and that might be the minimum requirement to have it enabled on your device.
