There has been plenty of discussion about the One UI 8.5 beta program, especially regarding the launch date and eligible devices. Even though we still don’t have an official announcement, the newest report confirms a few of these rumors.

Samsung will commence the One UI 8.5 beta program later today, starting with the Galaxy S25 series. Unfortunately, the Galaxy S25 Edge and Galaxy S25 FE are not eligible, but the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra can participate in the preview.
Meanwhile, not all Galaxy S25 series users will participate in the One UI 8.5 beta program. Samsung has limited access to select regions. Only users in the US, UK, Germany, Korea, India, and Poland will participate in the preview.
Of course, you won’t get the update just by living in these countries. You need to sign up for that beta program via the Samsung Members app. It’s available on the Play Store if you do not have it installed on your device already. You need a local SIM card, and your Samsung account logged in on your phone.
So far, we can only confirm the One UI 8.5 beta update for the Galaxy S25 series. Samsung might expand the availability to other phones in the coming weeks, probably next year. Hopefully, we will get more information about the availability in the coming days.
What to expect in the One UI 8.5 beta program
Samsung is not making many visual changes with One UI 8.5, but there are many customizations. The Korean company is tweaking the Quick Panel, making it completely customizable. Additionally, a smarter Bixby, improved Galaxy AI features for image editing, contact suggestions for Quick Share, the ability to access data from all your Samsung phones and tablets using storage share, more convenient Auracast and voice broadcast, location screen clock layout improvements, and weather effects for alarms.
Samsung will finally introduce Theft Protection with One UI 8.5, and battery information to give more practical information about expected battery life. We will get the complete changes when the rollout commences.
