After Google rolled out support for AirDrop via Quick Share for the Pixel 10 series, it started making plans to expand it to other devices. It has not been long since the Pixel 9 series phone got the feature, which has now been extended to Samsung phones. The AirDrop support via Quick Share has been limited to the Galaxy S26 series phones, but a new report suggests the latest Quick Share update has enabled support for older Samsung phones. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Did the latest Quick Share update enabled Airdrop support on older Samsung phones?
According to Tarun Vats, a new Quick Share update has been rolled out via the Galaxy Store. According to the tipster, the update enables “AirDrop-like sharing” on older Samsung phones running One UI 8.5 Beta. That would have been the best news of the week, but unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be true.
Those running the latest One UI 8.5 beta build and have installed the new Quick Share update from the Samsung Store confirmed they did not get the AirDrop support on their device. Perhaps the support is currently limited to a certain region, which might make sense, but so far, we have yet to see anyone confirm the report.
We expect Samsung to expand AirDrop support via Quick Share to older phones in the coming weeks. We’re looking for a timeline on when the update that enables the function will be released. If you are using the Galaxy S26 series phones, you can install the latest update and start sharing files with iOS devices.
