Samsung is preparing the next version of its custom interface, One UI 8.5, which is expected to debut alongside the Galaxy S26. As usual, the update will also reach older models after going through several rounds of beta testing. While the rollout hasn’t officially begun, the first One UI 8.5 beta build for the Galaxy S25 series has now appeared on Samsung’s servers.

The Galaxy S25 lineup is expected to be among the first to receive this update. With the official release only a few weeks away, it makes sense that internal testing is already underway. The Galaxy S26 build is reportedly being tested as well, and signs now point to the S25 joining the process soon. Public beta registration could still be a few weeks out, but Samsung is clearly making progress.
What We Know So Far About the One UI 8.5 beta build for the Galaxy S25
Tipster Tarun Vats reports that Samsung’s servers are now showing the first One UI 8.5 beta build for the Galaxy S25 series. This confirms that the company has begun evaluating the build ahead of a wider rollout. However, there’s still work to be done before the update can be released to testers, including preparing the beta program for select users.
The firmware carries the version S938NKSU7ZYKP, and access is currently limited to internal testers. That should change soon, as Samsung usually expands availability once initial checks are completed. For now, all we can do is wait for the company to finish the preparations and open the preview to participants.
One UI 8.5 isn’t expected to bring major visual changes, with most UI redesigns likely reserved for One UI 9.0—already in development and set to launch with Android 17. More details about both versions should surface in the coming weeks, but it’s clear that One UI 8.5 is getting closer to its public release.
