Samsung started rolling out the stable One UI 8-based Android 16 update recently, but it could be developing the next major One UI upgrade. While One UI 8.5 has been in the news lately, expected for a January 2026 release, One UI 9 will be a bigger update. It will bring the next iteration of Android OS, and Samsung has set its eyes on the release.
We are still a couple of months away from the release of Android 17. Google is yet to announce plans for the next upgrade, but Samsung is making plans. Perhaps the company wants to deliver new upgrades on time, to completely erase the memories of the stable One UI 7 release schedule.

Details of Samsung One UI 9.0 update
After concluding the One UI 8 Beta preview, Samsung is moving to One UI 8.5. We have yet to receive official confirmation about the release, but reports suggest that the build will debut with the Galaxy S26 series. From the leaked firmware, perhaps for developers, One UI 9.0 has been spotted. Unfortunately, that’s the only information we have on the major upgrade.
We expect more information in the coming weeks, perhaps after Google confirms Android 17 development. Both builds will arrive simultaneously for eligible devices. Hopefully, we will learn about One UI 9.0 in the coming weeks/months.
