Samsung is preparing the next version of its Android skin, One UI 8.5, which is expected to debut alongside the upcoming Galaxy S26 series in January. As always, the update will also extend to older models, including the Galaxy S25 lineup. Samsung has already begun internal testing for the One UI 8.5 update. A beta program is likely to start soon—possibly within weeks—but it will initially be limited to select flagship smartphones. Unlike One UI 8, which introduced a major Android upgrade, One UI 8.5 will still be based on Android 16. Samsung is reserving Android 17 for the future One UI 9.0 update, which is also under development. There is no confirmed timeline for One UI 9.0 yet, but it is expected sometime next year.
