Xiaomi was among the few smartphone makers to start testing Android 16 after the official beta announcement in May. The Chinese company has already reached a milestone with the stable build rolling out for select phones. We understand the rollout has been limited to flagship phones, and we might wait till the release of HyperOS 3 before the public rollout commences.
The latest report suggests Xiaomi HyperOS 3 will roll out this July, and we expect it to come with Android 16. If that is the case, then we expect the public to start getting the Xiaomi Android 16 upgrade in the coming days, with the current rollout limited to Mi Pilot members. Additionally, the release is exclusive to Global and European models.
Details of Xiaomi Android 16 update rollout

Xiaomi has released stable Android 16 to its flagship phones in Europe and globally. These phones are the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 14T Pro. The duo participated in the beta preview, and it is not surprising that the current rollout started with them. Given the build numbers (OS2.0.218.0 and OS2.0.215.0), it is obvious these builds are stable betas.
Additionally, the changelog has a warning that installing the update might cause some glitches and overheating, which are associated with stable beta builds. Hence, if you have not received the update, you are not missing out, as the company has yet to finalize the testing. Perhaps you will get the upgrade with HyperOS 3, which is rolling out soon.
Go ahead and install the upgrade when prompted. We understand it comes with security enhancements, including the July 2025 security patch. Ensure to back up your data before installing the update, as you might encounter a problem that can lead to resetting your device.
Other Xiaomi Phones receiving the Android 16 update
Many phones are eligible for the stable Android 16 update, but there is no official release date. We expect the list after the release of HyperOS, meaning most phones will get the new OS with the upcoming HyperOS. According to recent reports, Xiaomi might start the rollout later this month, and if that happens, we will get an official confirmation on when some of these phones will get an upgrade.
Meanwhile, anyone their phone debuted with Android 15 is eligible for Android 16 and even 17, which will start testing very soon. We recommend checking the updater app to ensure you are running the latest build for easy transition to Android 16.
