Xiaomi has been working on the next iteration of its Android skin- HyperOS. Since the HyperOS 2 debuted, there have been two-point upgrades to improve performance and introduce new features while preparing eligible phones for a seamless transition to HyperOS 3. With the release of Android 16, we expect eligible Xiaomi phones to start getting the upgrade soon, which will arrive with HyperOS 3.
With the change in Google’s new Android OS release cycle, we expect smartphone makers to release the latest OS faster to their eligible phones. It also means in-house Android skins developed by these companies will arrive on time as well. That seems to be the case with HyperOS 3, which, according to reports, will start rolling out this July.
Details of Xiaomi HyperOS 3
There have been many innovations in the past few years. Each company wants to become the best, but it doesn’t seem that HyperOS will introduce many features. Xiaomi is leaning towards improving performance, addressing bugs, AI integration, and enhancing gaming performance.
System performance: We understand HyperOS will focus more on improving performance and resolving issues. There will not be many user-facing changes, as Xiaomi targets faster App launch, better resource management, and smooth multitasking.
AI integration: The world is moving towards AI, and smartphone companies are obviously a big part. As expected, HyperOS will introduce more advanced AI features.
Gaming and Multimedia: Gaming is a huge part of the Android ecosystem. OEMs optimize their phones for the best experience, and with HyperOS 3, Xiaomi will make further improvements. The new Game Turbo is optimized for big screens like Foldables and Tablets.
Display Improvement: Xiaomi will revamp the UI based on Android 16, including an intuitive and beautiful design. Perhaps the company will introduce more customizable widgets to the lock screen and home screen.
With the rollout set to start anytime soon, we understand users are eager to know whether their phone will receive the update. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not released an official list, but we have an idea of the phones that will receive the update.
Meanwhile, some of these phones will only upgrade to HyperOS 3 but not Android 16.
