Google has begun rolling out the December 2025 Google Play system update. The update is available for all Android devices, although it may take some time to reach everyone as Google is releasing it in batches.
This latest Google Play system update introduces several new features. According to the official release notes, the changes span Google Play Services, the Play Store, and the Play System itself. The update applies across a wide range of platforms, including Android phones and tablets, Google/Android TV, Wear OS, Android Automotive, and more.
Even if the update hasn’t reached your device yet, you can manually check for it by going to Settings > Google services (tap your name at the top on Pixel devices) > All services > Privacy & security > System services.
Keep in mind that not all changes listed in the changelog may be immediately visible to end users. Some improvements are targeted at developers, while others may roll out gradually over time. That said, installing the update is still recommended. Below is the full changelog.
