Google has started rolling out the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 update to eligible Pixel devices, just weeks before the expected stable release.
The new build is a minor follow-up to QPR3 Beta 2, which was released a few weeks ago. While many were expecting Beta 3 at this stage, Google appears to be polishing the current branch with incremental fixes instead.
Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1: Eligible Devices and Build Numbers
The update is available exclusively to users enrolled in the Android Beta Program and is rolling out with the following firmware versions:
- Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro:
CP11.251209.009 - Other supported Pixel devices:
CP11.251209.009.A1
For newer devices:
- Pixel 9a: 123 MB update size
- Pixel 10: 98.39 MB update size
Notably, Google has withheld the OTA image for the Pixel 10, while OTA files for other devices are available via the Android Developers website.
What’s New in Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1?
Google hasn’t shared a detailed changelog for this release. However, given how close the stable rollout is, Beta 2.1 is widely believed to focus on:
- Bug fixes
- Performance optimizations
- System stability improvements
This type of update is typical in the final testing phase before a quarterly platform release goes stable.
Security Patch Status
Despite expectations, the update does not include a newer security patch. Devices remain on the January 2026 security patch, which also shipped with the previous beta build.
There’s still a possibility Google could release another beta or release candidate with updated security fixes before the stable QPR3 rollout.

If you’re already enrolled in the beta program, installing Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2.1 is recommended. While it doesn’t introduce visible new features, it should deliver a smoother and more reliable experience ahead of the stable release.
