Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable Android 16 update for its entry-level smartphones — the Redmi A3 and POCO C61. The much-anticipated update is now live for select users. Unlike Xiaomi’s flagship models, these devices run on stock Android, so the update doesn’t include HyperOS 3, which was never planned for them.

Interestingly, the Redmi A3 and POCO C61 are among the first Xiaomi phones to receive Android 16 — ahead of some flagship models. However, the rollout is currently limited to a small number of users in select regions, with a wider release expected in the coming days. You can check for availability through the system updater app.
Android 16 Update Details for Redmi A3 and POCO C61
The new stable update arrives with build number V816.0.3.0.WGRMIXM and weighs approximately 2.7GB. It introduces several new features, optimizations, and improved system security. Xiaomi has also refined system animations, making the interface smoother than ever — with some users noting that it even rivals Apple’s fluidity.
Although HyperIsland features aren’t included, users can still enjoy a few new AI-powered tools and performance enhancements designed to make the experience more efficient.
For now, the Android 16 update is available for global users only. It may take some time before it expands to other regions, including Europe, Africa, and North America. To stay updated, keep checking the system updater app or follow Xiaomi’s official Telegram channels for rollout announcements.
