Google has completed the Android 17 Beta cycle, meaning the stable build will start rolling out anytime from next month. Perhaps the next update for Pixel phones will bring the new OS, while Xiaomi phones are just beginning to preview the build. Also, only select phones are allowed to preview the build.
Xiaomi has always had a good relationship with Google and is always among the first third-party smartphone makers to preview a new iteration of Android OS. As expected, the Android 17 Beta build is now available for select users globally. You don’t need to enroll before installing the update, but you need to know how to flash ROM via the Recovery method.
So far, Xiaomi has announced the availability of Android 17 Beta build for its flagship Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra (Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi). Xiaomi 15T Pro users can also participate in the preview.
Before installing the build, note that it’s a beta ROM and will have some stability issues. These types of ROMs have bugs and glitches, which often result in overheating and battery drain. Additionally, you will lose all your data after successfully flashing the ROM. We recommend giving it proper thought before making a decision, even though a you can always revert to their original ROM.
How to Download Android 17 Beta build for Xiaomi phones
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has limited the beta preview to global users. While we expect other regions to join the testing in the coming days, only the global unit can flash Android 17 for now.
Before you can install the Android 17 build, your device need to be running a particular HyperOS 3 build. Due to Android security patch compatibility, your Xiaomi 17 should be on OS3.0.301.0.WPCMIXM, Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi on OS3.0.9.0.WPAMIXM and Xiaomi 15T Pro on OS3.0.11.0.WOSMIXM.

After downloading the ROM, follow the steps below to complete the installation. Ensure to backup your data before you proceed.
Step 1: Click the relevant link below to download the ROM.
Step 2: Copy the ROM upgrade zip file to “File Manager” app -> “Download”.
Step 3: Go to “Settings” -> “About phone” -> Tap on “Xiaomi HyperOS” at the top of the page -> Tap on “Xiaomi HyperOS” at the top for 10 times -> Click the “three dots” icon in the top-right corner -> Select “Choose update package”.
Step 4: Select the ROM upgrade file you have downloaded to update.
